Prosecutors claim the Buff Point man accused of murdering Lake Macquarie woman Carly McBride was solely responsible.
Forty-one-year-old Sayle Newson was today committed to stand trial for the murder of the 31-year-old mother of two, his former girlfriend, four years ago.
Her remains were found in 2016 in bushland near the Hunter town of Scone.
While his co-accused James Cuneen has now had a murder charge against him dropped. He's now accused of being an accessory after the fact.
Police have previously said Newson and Cuneen used Ms McBride’s credit card to buy drinks at a local restaurant shortly after her disappearance in September 2014.
