An accused car thief has been bitten on the groin by a police dog overnight after a chase across the Gold Coast.

Police pursued a stolen vehicle to Arundel after it was spotted speeding by their chopper in Oxenford around 8pm on Tuesday.

It eventually pulled over on Brisbane Road when officers took out its tyres with tyre spikes, before the driver took off on foot.
