"Nobody puts Borobi in a corner".
Those words from the Gold Coast Mayor, who is on a mission to save the Commonwealth Games mascot from living out his days in a cupboard.
The blue surfing koala has been put into storage at the Queensland Museum but according to News Corp, Councillor Tom Tate has vowed to free him.
The Mayor is hoping the state will give Borobi to the Gold Coast, so he can go on display, much like the huge, inflatable white whale used during the Opening Ceremony.
The Migaloo replica was recently saved from storage and given pride of place in the new Home Of The Arts.
