Greater Shepparton is proud to be the fruit capital of Australia, and now more trade opportunities may be opening with Asia.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Cr Kim O’Keeffe, Director Sustainable Development Geraldine Christou, Economic Development Project Officer, Rohan Sali and local orchardist Peter Hall represented Greater Shepparton while travelling through China, Hong Kong and Jakarta for 2 weeks to create new business opportunities within our food industry.
The delegation visited several government representatives, business operators and attended Asia Fruit Logistica between 28th August – 8th September.
[The trip] provided the opportunity to build strong international relationships and showcase Greater Shepparton and the opportunities we can offer in investment, export and also lifestyle.
- Cr O’Keeffe
Fruit Logistica is Asia’s leading trade show for the international fresh fruit and vegetable business, where supply chains have the opportunity to meet face to face to network and discuss business opportunities.
Cr O’Keeffe stated that their aim was to increase the amount we can export from Greater Shepparton to Asia to create more business for growers. “We want our growers to be front and centre of future exposure to Asia’s biggest trade show for fresh fruit,” she said.
