Melbourne's about to cop some more rain.
A band of rain is moving in on the city from the north, with the rain looking set to hit the city during the afternoon.
It comes alongside a severe weather warning in place for parts of the state, bringing with it damaging winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h and peaking as high as 90 km/h.
The warning was in place for parts of many districts, including Central, East Gippsland, South West, North Central, North East and West and South Gippsland areas.
The Bureau of Meteorology had originally forecast rain developing during the afternoon and easing to a few showers later on.
The Bureau also tipped the chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon and evening.
The rain will clear for Saturday, with a partly cloudy top of 15 tipped.
