Police allege that the man accused of killing five members of his family stayed in the home for several days after the murders.
Anthony Harvey, 24, has been charged with the murder of his wife Mara Harvey, 42, and their three daughters Charlotte, 3, and twins Alice and Beatrix, aged 2.
This is alleged to have taken place on September 3 in Bedford, northern Perth, with Mr Harvey also accused of murdering his mother-in-law the next day.
Mr Harvey fronted court in Karratha yesterday, and will remain in custody until his next court appearance on September 19.
According to WA Police Commissioner Chris Dawson, several weapons including knives and a blunt instrument were recovered from the home.
Mr Harvey is understood to have travelled 16 hours' north to hand himself in at a police station in Pannawonica.
We would firstly like to thank everyone for their help, support and kind wishes during this extremely dark and difficult time. There are no words to explain the emptiness and loss that we feeling. Beverley was a kind hearted, caring mother and grandmother and was always there for her family. She was very much family orientated and she loved her daughters and grandchildren, and would have done anything for them. Mara loved being a mum and she loved her girls. She was so proud of each of them and was doing a great job of raising them. Her girls were her world. Charlotte was an energetic, bubbly confident little girl who loved people and loved socialising. Alice was outgoing, adventurous and cheeky, while Beatrix was at times a little bit more quiet but gave the biggest hugs. This world is a sadder place with the loss of these five beautiful people but Heaven has gained five new angels. Thank you.
