Pioneer Valley Show - Finch Hatton Showgrounds (Sunday)

Come along to the 55th annual Pioneer Valley show to the picturesque, tree studded grounds which will once again be packed with fun, entertainment and agricultural exhibits all day. A country-orientated fun, family day transforms the small town of Finch Hatton into a sea of colour and excitement. It's the best one-day show in Australia!

Dads n Bubs - Duddly Denny Library (Saturday)

Dads ‘n’ Bubs Baby Bounce promotes language development in babies from birth to walking. The session features nursery rhymes, finger plays and songs and is a great opportunity for dads to do something special and beneficial with their little one.

You Me & High Tea - Mackay Choral Society (Saturday)

A concert which will have you crooning, swooning and swinging with a delicious high tea included in the ticket price of $20-. Re visit the music of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Dean Martin and add some new crooners into the mix like Michael Buble and you have an afternoon of sheer relaxation and delight. The concert commences the afternoon and the high tea finishes your afternoon's delight.

John Honeywill: Hold this closely - Artspace Mackay (Until August 5)

Queensland painter John Honeywill masterfully transforms still life arrangements into alluring visual conversations. His skills in hyperrealism - a genre of painting that resembles high resolution photography – entice the viewer into a quiet, precise world of floral arrangements and simple, everyday objects.

Mini Golf - South Mackay (Sunday)

There is now an 18-hole minigolf course for you and your family to enjoy at Illawong Leisure Centre. It’s open Sundays from 2pm to 6pm. It's $12/adult and $8/child (15 years and under) or take advantage our family deal of 2 adults and 2 children for $30. Bring your togs as well because this price covers you to use the swimming pool where you can go for a dip after your game. Mum and dad can enjoy a couple of drinks at the licensed bar too. Timezone - Canelands (all weekend)

There’s plenty of excitement for the kids at Timezone, where they can play video games, a little Air Hockey, bowling and even Laser Tag. It opens up from 9am until late at Canelands.

Slick 7 Raceway - Bakers Creek (all weekend)

Slick 7 Raceway in Bakers Creek is always a good idea for kids to have a bit of fun on the weekend. Did you know you can host parties for up to 16 people as well? You can give the kids a go for only $5 for 15 minutes, plus $1 slot car hire. The Slick 7 Raceway is located on Temples Lane and open between 10am-4pm weekends.

Airlie Beach Lagoon - Airlie Beach (all weekend)

Why not grab the kids and head to Airlie Beach lagoon? The lagoon is surrounded by grassy knolls, perfect for a spot of sunbathing or finding a quiet spot in the shade to read a book. The sandy beach area at one end provides a safe stinger-free environment for the kids to play in the shallows and the lagoon is surrounded by landscaped gardens for aesthetic appeal. A children's pool is situated at one end, and it's all free!

Road trip to Pinnacle Pub - Pinnacle (all weekend)

Heading into the Pioneer Valley is always a great idea for a road trip with the kids. And to finish it off, a bite to eat at the Pinnacle Pub. The kids are looked after with a play area, and you can get stuck into a pie or a HUGE schnitty! Or, you can sit back & relax in the family-friendly atmosphere – that part is free.

Take the kids to a skate park - various locations (all weekend)

There are plenty of skate parks in the Mackay region including parks in Bucasia, North Mackay Mirani, Sarina, Slade Point and Walkerston. They are all free as well.
